I built the snorkel after that trip. I hit the water way too hard and soaked the air filter and MAF. Fortunately I was able to dry the sensor and drive, carefully, without the air filter. I will attach some pics of the snorkel. It is made primarily from shop vac parts. I am doing a little test to see if I have lost any power or gas mileage due to the small diameter tubing I used. I dont feel any power loss but I can easily remove the front of the air cleaner to disconnect the snorkel.

Thanks for the comments.

So how does that snorkel work? I was thinking og doing something just like that.... I was planning my mount lower though, down by the base of the window.. What have you noticed in gas, power, etc..?
