I have a steep driveway that I park on, and this morning when I tried to go to work the engine started, but the shift selector wouldn't move out of Park position. I haven't had time to explore the issue and would like some guidance. Could the weight of the vehicle be causing gears to mesh? Brake pedal sensor not sending "unlock" signal?
I use the parking brake and park nose uphill.
When I get home I'm planning on using a come-along to pull the beast uphill a few inches to see if that will remove some load off the drivetrain (my thinking is that it may be a mechanical situation similar to trying to remove the ignition key while the steering wheel is fully cranked)
Any suggestions? Thanks
