Had problems with my keys turning the ignition on. The key would just not turn. I tried WD40 ( a quick shot ) and it did the trick, but it has happened me two more times since ( a WD40 can is now under the seat). I'm afraid of running out of luck soon and getting stuck do I need a new ignition unit? Is this major surgery? Any suggestions?

Also my sunroof is leaking - can the seals around the roof be replaced / fortified, I cannot find the drain holes. The rain seems to come down through the winder unit.

Thanks.

Get to a good lock smith while you are still able to turn the key, see if they can clean out the build up of metal filings that is causing you this problem.
It will only get worse pretty quickly.

Sunroof Leak

As far as your leaky sunroof, does your Disco have a dealer installed cell phone kit? Mine did, and a small antenna was mounted just in front of the sunroof. That's where my leak was. It caused the water to drip inside right where the sunroof controls are. The sunroof MFU eventually filled up with water, causing a short which made both sunroofs open every time it rained. I sealed up the antenna with silicone and dried out the MFU... everything seems to be fine now.

The drain tubes could also be the problem, like you said. They run from the front of the sunroof on each side, towards the windscreen and down the A-pillars.

I use graphite as needed. . .

When I first got my Landy, the ignition key did not want to turn in the ignition, although it worked well everywhere else. @ the advice of the locksmith next door I used graphite & or dry white teflon in my lock to keep it working smooothly. . . no problems since. Worth a try. LRW
