1. Sometimes when trying to start, more so when it's cold, when turning the ignition a vacuum like noise is heard but it doesn't turn over at all. After a few attempts it will start though. Concerned that one time it won't so looking for help.

2. The temp gage will sometimes have the red light lit up but the temp needle is as low as it could go.

3. Now if the car is running for a while the idling will drop when not acceperating and the car will sometimes stall. More it's run the more this happens.

Appreciate any help!

Thanks

The vacuum like noise is probably the SAI pump. That's normal; if the engine were starting, you'd not hear this.

Whatever you do, DO NOT RELY ON THE TEMP GAUGE!!! It's worse than useless; it gives a false sense that everything's fine. Get a separate temp gauge, one that connects to the water system or one that connects via the OBDII port. It's the only way to really know what's going on.

Speaking of OBDII, if you don't have a scanner, get one. I'll bet you have a lot of codes stored up that will point you in the right direction.

For the non-cranking issue make sure that the small lucar connector on the starter solenoid is well conneted cos it used to get loose quite often and swap starter relay R2 with R3(headlamp wash) to rule this out too

1. Turn over meaning crank or start?

3. Need a clearer description. is it stalling at idle?

Do you have s SES light on or intermittent on or flashing? Have you pulled codes?

Maintenance history and recent services? Have you replaced plugs/wires? Air filter?
