I have just bought a 88 rangerover fitted with a 6.2 litre GMC V8 diesel fitted what I want to know does the 5.7 litre petrol engine have the same stud/bolt pattern ie would they be interchangable as I can run a 5.7 petrol on LPG for less money than running the diesel lump.

Cheers ONz

I don't know the answer but I am wondering if this engine is the one GM converted from gas to Diesel? I think back in the 80's GM converted their 350 cubic inch gas over to Diesel. Very finiky engine I heard.

No that is not the same engine, The 6.2L GMC DIESEL is a true diesel and
a work horse, They were used in the early Hummers , Blazers,Pickups etc..

I would start by looking at the tranny on a 350. See if it is the same as one you have. I know the gears may be different but see if the housing is the same.
