Its a 2004 range rover and has been a jerk for as long as i've owned it. Just put $10,000 into it last summer getting a bunch of engine work done and last friday my wife was driving it and it just died. Before this it had a misfire so i opened it up and checked it out. One of the ignition coils had a melted spot so i ordered and replaced it. Anyway wife is driving it dies without warning and i get it towed to my house. It turns over just fine but refuses to fire. Replaced the cam position sensor that didn't work. Checked out the fuel pump heard that it is in fact running and had fuel pressure at the fitting under the hood. Pulled three different plugs and had it turned over to look for spark and no spark on all three. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Range Rovers from 2003-2005 have unreliable and troubled BMW engines I stay away from those or any RR P38's from 1995-2002.
Range Rover's from 2006-on with 4.4-5.0 jag engines have very little issues. Get rid off it and get a LR3 with a 4.4 or a RR with a 4.4 (with no Super Charge).

from conversations with reputable LR indy mechanics in CA and in NY and some service staff at LR. Supercharge engines tend to have issues. I was also told by a very reputable LR source that the new V6 Supercharged Engine in the new 2014-2015 LR4, RR and RRS starts to have issues after 4K. I find that their is no reason for a supercharged Rover. Just go to sport mode if you need to pass another car.
I would stick to the V8 4.4 or 5.0 Jag's, these have been the most reliable engines LR has used in the US market.

Did you pull the codes ? No sparks on one bank - maybe the wiring loom ? I'd switch all the coils from side to side - just to make sure it is not a cool issue - not sure how easy it is to replace the loom to the coils ...

You said you replaced cam position sensor ... Was there a code for that ? I'd also replace crank position sensor - this is more likely a "no start" sensor- and should be relatively cheap. Also buy a can of MAF cleaner and clean your maf and throttle body - it shouldn't cost too much to get running - if you don't have the tools - Id go to an indie with a good diagnostic computer ...

And then - yes - get a 2006-9 lr3 or rangerover sport ...:)
