Hi LR fans
Please could you help. I've decided that a 110 300 TDI is the vehicle to go for for my trans Africa trip. I've got the possibility of getting a new ROW model for quite a good price. The advantage is no mileage and, of course, peak condition. The alternative is an R-reg or older, which would cost about half of the new. The problem is going to be finding a car that old in good enough condition and low-ish mileage. And I think I'd be lucky to get one with fewer than 60 000 miles. The advantage of the new is that it'd be under warranty for a year, although I'm not sure that that will really help if I get stuck in the Bundu! The ROW is a pick-up, so I'll need to put on a hard top. Other mods are nominal as I plan to keep it as basic as possible and anyway, these other mods will apply whether the car is new or second hand. Comments from others have included the suggestion that the engine can go forever (?), so age isn't important. Do you agree?
Any ideas, suggestions or advice would be appreciate, please.
