2000 Land Rover Descovery Series 2.

My rear suspension keeps deflating. Normally after I have driven about 70 miles on the highway. I then park and wait about 20 mins, restart at which point it inflates!

If I park on uneven ground while its inflated, it deflates. On even ground it stay inflated.

Does this sound like a leaking air bags?

Is there a way manually inflate, so I dont have to wait 20 mins?

Cheers

Perhaps I'm not understanding you correctly, in which case pls do correct me. But the SLS in a DII (literally 'self-leveling suspension') is supposed to inflate & deflate to keep the vehicle level on grades, make cargo area more accessible, etc. This may explain your suspension deflating & inflating when you are parked vs. moving.

I think he means dropping wayyy down... A few weeks ago I changed out the wheels and when I lowered the rear it dropped... I mean like lowrider dropped. Once I started the engine it leveled itself out. It hasn't happened since. Is this what's happening FATCAT? Or are you talking about an inch or two? In that case SCSL explained why.

i think it's pretty normal for it to deflate on uneven ground, mine does that, every once in a while on even ground it will deflate, but it doesn't take mine 20 minutes to reinflate itself. I notice mine raising within a minute of starting the vehicle. If you're not getting the idiot light on the dash, then you're probably okay.

Yeah might be worth it to have an indie shop check the codes if it takes a full 20 min. If it's both shocks taking that long it could be a problem w/ the compressor or the lines. If it's uneven it should be easy to see which bag is the problem (although still could be a line). But again,,,self-leveling when you stop is pretty normal. Go to a good indie shop,,, the bags are very expensive & I would hate for you to get "sold" by the stealership.

Airbags

I hope this explains it better. I drive me car from my home NJ toward NY. The suspension it at the full level. By the time I get the GW bridge to cross to NY. (About 70miles.) The suspension has dropped completly. Head almost hitting the roof stuff! I park for about 20 mins, then restart, in about 5 mins the suspension is fully up again. There are no lights on the dash.

I think the un even ground stuff, I think is a red herring. I meant gravel vs. concret. And turned, so the wieght is shifted.

Cheers

shouldn't he get an error light at that point though?
Good question,,,I dunno. Not sure he would w/ a tear in one bag. Perhaps an LR tech on forum can answer. Best bet IMHO is replace w/ springs,,, for roughly the same price as a new bag you can get a pair of rear springs.
