I JUST noticed that on my '93 4.2 engine, the PS pump has what looks like an extra pulley (flat, wide-bottom) mounted outboard (toward the front) of the V-pulley that actually DRIVES the pump. The alternator belt, which is wide and grooved, makes contact on BOTH SIDES of this extra PS pulley as it goes up to the alt, then back down, which makes no sense at all to me. The contact has to be SLIDING contact, unless somehow this larger PS pulley is spinning at the exact same linear speed as the alt belt, which I highly doubt. The PS pulley looks shiny from the sliding contact.
Is this a standard factory setup?
