Anyone have any recommendations for a Disco 1 alternator that doesn't completely suck? The one that came with the truck when I bought it last year failed in January (dead voltage regulator), so I rapidly replaced it with one from Advance. Now, it acts like it's not charging all the time, and the tachometer works sporadically (which seems to be a symptom of alternator failure).

So, who has a good recommendation for a brand/source of alternator? I'd prefer not to have to do this repair twice a year anymore

Hmm, according to their online catalog, they don't have one for Land Rover. The pricing isn't bad though, and they look pretty nice. Where'd you get yours, RoverX?

I still have the original plus an extra one in my garage that I bought on the cheap. If and when those two go out, I will get a Mean Green. They do have one for LR, maybe give them a call during business hours tomorrow. If you get nowhere, repost and I will call around b/c I know some of the guys have them on their rovers - I just don't remember who exactly.

I run the MG 200 amp alt, haven't had any problems so far...

Had to get a longer belt and modify the shroud to make it fit. It's not really a direct swap but they supply you with all the brackets and spacers.
