Don't replace your MAF! it is VERY rare for them to fail.

DTCs present?
12

took it out yesterday, took it apart (just front and back) cleaned it out with MAF cleaner, let it dry for about an hour, reassembled it...... no change

drove her yesterday about 40 miles without MAF had no issues other than the expected rpm fluctuations.
Do you have any DTCs present?

You run the risk of denting your truck throwing parts at it without taking advantage of the on-board diagnostics opportunities afforded you.
has so many dings does it really matter anymore?

DTC 12 - Air flow meter
Wow, a rare failure for sure.

Lemme get a price. BRB. In the meantime, have you run all of the tests in the FSM? Should be in the last section, Electrical.
Grr! Back-ordered.

New Mass Air Flow Sensor Meter MAF for Land Rover | eBay

reached out to my LR guy to borrow a MAF for a quick test
i cleared the dtc, reset ecu, ignition in II, position, check engine light goes out, MAF connected, she kicks to 1000 and immediately shuts off. MAF disconnected she starts right up.

ordered this one:
New Mass Air Flow Sensor Meter Defender Land Rover Range 95 94 93 Discovery 110 | eBay

will see...
the saga continues....

new MAF did the trick, better milage now than before however.... gave her a little stress test... 15 mile stretch on highway 70mph and 75mph+ then some stop and go... check engine came on with rpm dropping on idle below 500 with spikes and a horrible knocking on lower end motor....

let her sit for a day then tried to check error code... nada... unplugged display.... still no error code.... reset ecu... let her run on idle for 15min with rpm 1500 then 2200, 1500 then 2500..... no knock.... just took her out for a night drive 2 miles, parked waited 5 minutes then drove home, bang check engine light on knock noise back (stick in a pan ī sync with engine rpm on idle)
