My 2001 Discovery II has about 130,000 miles on it and the brakes feel a little "soft." It has new front and rear pads and rotors and had the fluid flushed at the same time. The brakes still feel "soft." Obviously with 130,000 miles the original stock rubber brake hoses have worked well but have some wear on them.

Instead of replacing the brake hoses with OEM rubber hoses, would the stainless steel braided hoses be a better choice? This vehicle is a daily driver, but occasionally does see some light off-road driving.

Anyone here running stainless steel braided brake lines? How are they compared to stock on our vehicles for both on-road and off-road use? Pros/Cons?

Who's pads are you using?
There are 6 rubber hoses that you should replace, 1 on each caliper and 2 under the master cylinders. These will make a huge difference giving your a firmer brake pedal and a little better stopping power.

Thanks Mike, what are the two under the master cylinder called? Why are they rubber?

Any thoughts on the braided stainless steel brake hoses?

I am using OEM Land Rover pads.

Stain less steel is the best, and if you want to do it right you have to replace the two under the booster mounted on the fire wall.
Who's pads are you using?

Thanks Mike. Where can I buy just the two braided SS lines for under the booster?

Why are these lines rubber anyways? Can they just be replaced with standard brake tubing?

Disco Mike. Your brake lines look like really nice pieces. What brand are they and where did you get them?

They are just typical coated SS hoses, but in a pretty red color.

The engineering and testing, which is what makes a truly nice braking component cannot be seen in pictures.
