I picked up 2 used rear calipers to overhaul. Never done this so I have some questions. 1) is there a way to remove the pistons without an air compressor, 2) special tool 18G672-piston clamp necessary to fit seal retainer, and 3) what is suitable disc brake lube?

thanks

If your going to replace the pistons then you should be able to pull them out with pliers and use a small flat screw driver to pry the seals out. I use Castro LMA brake fluid (Low Moisture Absorption). Your best bet is to get the RR manual though. Good luck.

I got the pistons out using a bike pump. 2 out 4 pistons are still usable
Is the special tool 18G672-piston clamp necessary to fit seal retainer or can it be pressed in some other way?
