So my 1993 RRC has always seem to have a dip in the lights when ever I pressed the brake pedal, as if the brake lights were drawing a lot of power. I added a trailer and not long after (couple trips) the brake light switch died of melting. I don't know if the larger draw from the trailer brake lights are what pushed it over the edge, but I am wondering if anyone can shed some light (haha) on why this thing draws so much power in the first place? And with the millions of relays inside an RRC, why is there not one that isolates the brake light switch from all the things that have to light up when you step on the brakes? Don't want to keep melting switches. Should my headlights really dip down in brightness for a second when I step on the brakes? Also, ABS light is on, I assume from the switch being dead. Can I reset that light without going through the whole "blink code check" procedure? All idiot lights are operational and none were on before the meltdown.

I am surprised, that there are no replies or the usual suggestions, so here goes one.
Bad ground, corrosion on connections, could caused extra draw and enough heat to melt something. Headlights dimming when stepping on brake would be the same cause.
