Yeah, I wouldn't turn them. I would just replace them. If you are used to DIY. Then it won't be too much of a problem. You have to remove the Hub, and unscrew the bolts from the disk, off of the Hub. They are Really hard to get off. Took me a whole day to do. Good Luck!

So how many miles on your truck, have the rotors ever been replaced?
You might want to look at Atlantic British for their brake specials. They usually have 3 different grades of brakes which will include new rotors, seal and pads.
Don't forget to do a complete brake fluid flush.
You should be able to do the job in 2 hours or so.

do yourself a favor and get a set of gloves for the grease.

also, if your doing the front replace the little metal hoses as well. they rust up and break. they arent that much from AB, They aint a fun job but if you want go for it.

remember with any four wheel hub job put all the parts in a straight line the way they came out. That way you know what goes what and where.

Just make sure you order up the hub seals and all that- you don't wanna get the thing torn apart and then not have everything to put it back together. Also, avoid no-name rotors and pads. The rotors that come on Land Rovers from the factory are Lockheed/Delphi... same for pads, with the addition of Ferodo. We do a fair amount of brake jobs on Rovers where the owner bought cheapo stuff and then they warped, squeal constantly or both.

I need new brakes on my 96 disco 1.I am thinking of doing them myself -any advice.I was told by local shop that rotors are usually replaced not turned on rovers? Thanks
I agree with the others, buy a complete kit front & rear . I would replace all
the wheel bearings while your at it they probably are in need of changing.

Most important if you are going to do all this work yourself I would recommend
you buy a Repair Manual it will give you the step x step procedure, torque
settings, etc...

Serg is selling a new unused D1 work shop manual for $75 , you will not
find one cheaper than that.
