Re the Camel Trophy videos....

Can anyone tell me:
1) Where is the cheapest place to buy the videos?
2) Are they available on DVD, or just VHS?

I know you can buy the compilation DVD that just came out, but I want the older ones - with only 4x4ing. I don't want freelanders(no offense to owners) and no canoes or horses in the videos....seems as though things were lost after the good ol' days of the 80's CT events.

Thanks.

Rovers North sells Camel Trophy videos.. they do have a DVD entitled "The Camel Trophy Years", which i'm sure of how much footage is actually on there though. On top of that they have all 5 vhs's available seperately, or as a package for 119.00

I bought "The Camel Trophy Years" [Actually its called "Camel Trophy: The Land Rover Years"] from Rovers North. I think its a great video, on DVD. It has an introduction, then it covers excerps from 1989-1998. In 1989 the only vehicles are all big Defender 110 tdi models, they look great and the 1989 clip shows probably the most hard core off-road driving. Defenders going through water well up over the hood, deep mud, nasty conditions, very good. Then 1990 is the three door tdi Discovery. This ones held in Russia, beginning is weak, end of clip is excellent, hard-core driving in water as deep as the 110's, plus in all of the movies '90-98 you still see the 110 support vehicles driving off road. 91-97 years are all 4-door tdi diesel Discoverys. The 1994 year is very good, very hard muddy driving. I will say 97 in Mongolia is pretty weak--plenty of kayaking and biking on that one, only a couple of decent off-road driving. 1998 is the freelander and its pretty pathetic, most all of it is the "sporting" events, a few seconds of good 4x4-ing, actually the Freelander goes through some nasty spots. There are also some extras on the DVD which a couple of them are interesting. I think the movie was between $20-30 and I am satisfied. 1996 Kalimantan is also pretty good. Unfortunantly no Range Rover action (too late) except a 3-second clip of an earlier version.

Cheers guys!

I bought that video! I do not have a VHS anymore, so I was hoping ot get everything on DVD. Now I am gooing to check out the DVD and see which VHS tapes to buy - I hate the political correct versions so I will prob end up with all the 1980's VHS...then off to Best Buy to grab a dvd/vhs combo player.

Keep it real!
