I have a friend that is geting rid of that size tires . They are used , and taking up space in his garage . So he asked if I would want them .

I could take them , but If they don't fit and will rub . I see no point .



Also How will this efect the trucks performance ? More MPG or Less. Slower accelaration ?

I have a 99 DII, running 265/75/16's, I had to raise mine and adjust the steering stops to prevent rubbing. I know some people have tried trimming, shouldn't be done, it is not a good fix, and if you are off the road, doing some rough trails you'll tear up the side walls.
245's seem to be the largest tire you can use and not modify.

With something that wide, you will have to trim and adust bump stops. You can go that tall but not as wide. Although I think Mike is a semi-god when it comes to rovers, I have to disagree with him on the trimming. If done right and you use flares, it is hardly noticeable. A cheap alternative to rover flares is to use j##p flares - they are cheaper and mroe flexible.

I have a 96 D1 and I am running 265/75/16 MT's. I also have a 2" OME lift. I had to trim in the rear so I wouldn't rub. It doesn't look pretty but I don't care b/c it is an offroad truck. If I had a nicer D2, I might care about how it looks.

One thing to keep in mind is this: whatever mod you do, it will lower the resale value of your truck. Even if you upgrade to a $G bumper that costs a helluva lot more than your stock bumper, it will lower the resale value of your rig. But, on the other hand, if you are going to keep your truck fro a long time and never sell it - or if you do sell it, you plan on selling it to another enthusiast - you will not really care about the resale value and just do stuf that pleases you.

A 245/75-16 is essentially a 31" tire... but it's only right around 8.5" wide(give or take depending on the make), and like DiscoMike said, that is the biggest tire that will fit a stock D2. The height on the tires you specify is fine, it is actually the width that won't work. My wife runs the 245 on her '00 D2 and we haven't noticed any significant power loss or major loss in gas mileage. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken, but I don't think you need to worry about trimming on a D2 because LR got smart and made the wheel arch a little bigger.

I would say take a pass on the tires and find something else.

Yeah, it'll fit.. with no trimming.. I'm running 32x10.5 on mine.. while I have a 3" lift, that doesn't affect the distance from the lower fenders.. and I have had no rubbing at any sort of articulation.

To add to your other question of economy, you will loose about 2 miles a gallon, loose some low end torque but gain a more comfortable ride.
After switching to 265's I added 4:11's which gave me back a little over a mile a gallon and lots of low end I didn't have before.

mine didn't rub, but ive heard of people with the same setup having it rub... at which case, you just need to adjust the bump stops

That's what I figured that they might be a tad to big for a stock ride .

Anyway , at this moment I really don't want a WIDE tire . But since it was for free I figured it might give me some millage with out waring my tires .
