I doesn't look like I can buy just the lever - true? I was going to fab up my own cable operated CDL control, but wanted to get a factory lever to actually attach to the transfer case.

Barring being able to buy one, what are the measurements of the flats on that shaft?

I'm not clear on why you can't buy a CDL shifter, since I found them easily available about a year ago. Ashcroft makes an after-market shifter that seems to match the '04 version that I bought from someone parting out an old Disco and eventually installed in my 2000 DII. Some people prefer the DI CDL shifter, which is also seems widely available and bolts on just as easily, though it requires some minor modification, and is bit cheaper than the two options above.

You might want to spend a few minutes with EBay, where I've seen both the '04 DII linkage and the DI version, or get in touch with one of the parts guys found elsewhere on this forum.

There are a few write ups on how to use the shifter assembly from a D1 on the DII. I plan on giving it a try myself.

My point was, I wanted to buy JUST the 2" lever that goes on the 8mm stud that sticks out of the transfer case. The rest I was just going to fab up myself.

That's the one part I was missing from the D1 linkage I used. Easy enough to fab that as well. I found a picture on line and made a functional copy.

Any D1 in a bone-yard. And while your there, pull the rest of the linkage (no fabbing required).
