Was it when the engine was hot or cooled? I had this happen when the engine was hot. It wouldn't start. It turned out to be the crack sensor. I was able to fix it myself.

You need only a new solenoid STC4462

Welcome to the forum.

If it's a starter for a V8, the solenoid can't be replaced or repaired as easily as the solenoid on diesel's starter. You'll have to buy a new starter.

Are you sure your battery is fully charged and the battery connections are tight all the way to the starter?

Thanks for the replies, battery is good, full charge on a month old interstate, engine always cold, car is kept in a garage so the click is loud and pronounced.i would just as soon replace the entire starter if its all one unit, i think the days of a remote start solenoid are gone..but with LR one never knows.
