So my used, high miles, 2006 LR3 has a code P0026. What I've read seems to point to a pretty expensive VVT solenoid. Just thought I would post here and see if anyone else has seen that code on an LR3 and what the solution was.

No, I still get it. There are some other posts (I cannot remember if this site or another) where some land rover techs gave me their opinions of things to try. Since it still runs ok, and we don't have smog tests, it's not highest on my priorities.

It is almost always the result of poor oil, wrong grad of oil or infrequent oil changes. When I have encountered it in the BMW engines, it is ALWAYS a portent of doom.

Yeah. I've heard some horror stories. I think the next time I change my oil I might put a can of snake oil in before.... I bought the thing cheap enough that if I need something big it isn't the end of the world, and it's paid for.

Just change the oil more frequently, it will clean it out better and safer than snake oil.

Yeah. It looks pretty good under the oil cap. I'm thinking with as many miles as I have, it might just be worn out. But I'll try upping the oil changes.
