Hi.
My freind has a series 2a and wishes to drop in a 2.5 Transit di engine. He was assured it would go in without a conversion but has found it will not locate with the gearbox. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ford Transit conversion

In the Land Rover Owner International magazine Jan 2004 edition this exact question was asked. The reply was also that there is an adapter needed. Will try summarise what they said..

Conversion kit is available from Milner Conversions (01629 734411). The kit includes an adapter plate to mate the engine to the existing Series-type gearbox, a flywheel spigot bush and a new set of engine mountings plus chassis bracket. Modifications required to bulkhead footwell to make clearance for the Ford's starter motor and reconnecting the exhaust. The Series lll-type clutch friction plate and release bearing are retained, with a Ford pressure plate.

Hope that helps!!
