My cruise control doesnt not seem to be engaging the light comes on on the dash switch but after that no mater what how I try to set nothing happens is there a way to check or where I should start looking to check it manualy?

couple of things you can do, check your vac hoses, check the switch under the brake and that disengages your cc.
