is this typical for discos?

I have a 2002 Discovery II SE7. when I set the cruise control, it drops down roughly 5 mph before it accelerates to set at whatever I set it at (ie: set it at 70, drops down to 65, then accelerates to 70 within a few seconds).

I realize there's a lot of weight that its trying to set speed for, so this may be completely normal for these cars, but this is the first disco I've owned, so I'm not sure what's typical for the cruise.

Have you checked all your cruise control vacuum lines including the one hooked to the second brake switch, they do have a tendency to leak.
