Now that I have replaced those terrible Goodyear tires I am better able to judge the truck's performance at speed. I am most dismayed by the operation of the cruise control on a flat straight away.

Rather than maintain a steady RPM and MPH, the cruise provides a slight increase in RPM and then drops the throttle back just enough as if to coast, all the while maintaining constant speed. I am unfamiliar with this sort of function in other vehicles that I have owned.

Is this constant on and off the throttle standard for this vehicle? This is just the sort of operation that makes me crazy in other's driving.

As best as my memory serves me (my cruise hasn't worked for a couple of years), this is what mine used to do and it's quite natural. My cruise went out after I fitted Motec, and I haven't bothered to look for the cause as yet.
