Dead Speedo + temp guage

I have just purchased a 95 TDi Disco with a dead speedo and temp guage.
Would these be connected by a common fuse?
If not is the speedo electrically driven or cable? If it's electrical, can I test to see whether the speedo or the transduser is faulty?
And how do I get the dash apart!!??

when you drive around do you see your odometre moving at all? if not suspect your speed senor is toast or not plugged in.
Not sure about the temp gage but check the sensor

errm....where do I find the speed sensor? Is it gearbox mounted? :dunno:

can't remember if it's mounted on the gear box or transfer case... if you crawl under your trunk from the driver side , no wait.. you're in oz so from the passenger side you should see a cable going in right by the parking brake drum you'll see a cable going into the gearbox/ transfer case.. can't remember... if you need more help, i'll take a look at mine when i get home tonight
