I have just bought a ' 96 Discovery and want to fit a cd changer. I asked at at a car radio place and they told me that it has to be the original Land Rover item fitted or possibly a unit from the same manufacturer. Can any one help me after 6 weeks of looking and dealing with used car salesman I just need facts. :drive:

I think they are right with the standard landy gear the changer has to be landrover or the same make.

MIght be cheap to buy a kit supercheap had a player and changer on for $500 with speakers

Just remember that you have to turn off the changer when offroading otherwise they could break the optics

I'm not sure what years are the same, but I bought one used for my '99 with the in-dash head unit for $150 from someone on discoweb.

Some of the guys get tired of worrying about the thing getting wet in water crossings, or change out the whole stereo, so they're a commonly available used item.
