94,000 miles on a 2004 Discovery.
Issue, starts and runs but after 20-40 minutes dies.
-cracks but does not start after dying.
-any hour later it will re-start
-all fuse look good and have tested relays
-replaced batt and alternator
-when cracking, no spark of fuel pressure.
-replaced ECU/BCU/Inst caster, same problem.
-No codes after dies.

Would crank position sensor cause this?

The CPS is a good bet.

My 2003 failed at about the same mileage as yours.

They seem to work until they heat up, allowing the few minutes of operation - then failure.

If you decide to replace the CPS, examination of the connector on the new part might help you to see how to release the old.
It is a bit of a blind operation.

Good Luck

Sounds like a class ice crank sensor failure.
No codes?
