Is there any way to release the tranny from park to neutral with a dead battery? Of course my disco is on the right side of the garage, and the battery is also on the right side...

Without a battery you can't shift a tranny whence can't release the solenoid the t/case which won't allow the t/case to shift to "N".

Hey Mike, that 99 discovery II shifted into neutral without a battery. The tow truck driver popped it right out in order to get it to my house. Of coarse that is the one with the bad transmission that I was asking you about in a different thread. Maybe it has some issues (inhibitor switch)?

Yeah I ended up using my trickle charger. Stupid design in my opinion. Another win for manuals...
