Hi All,

Was wondering is anyone can help. I bought a 1998 Range Rover 2.5i DSE from a dealer. All was going well until the electrics started to go a bit funny. Firstly, there was a problem with the air suspension, this was replaced. Then there was a warning light saying "ALARM FAULT" and then it would just do away. Then the immoboliser just shut the car down. They say they have it fixed but there is still an issue with the central locking. Also the passenger door does not open, this is now fixed but it went a time previously. Furthermore, there is a warning light on the A/C. I want to keep the Jeep but it could give me more trouble.

Any views.

Welcome to owning a P38a Range Rover!
Its sounds like you are having a myriad of computer related problems. When you say the door (passenger) isn't opening, do you mean inside or outside door handle? (or both) If its from the inside you can take the little gray trim piece around the handle off (1 screw) and you'll see the pull cable disconnected from the door pull. Put it back in with pliers next time it happens, if this is the case. If this isn't the problem, well I'm sure you know the door handle can be disabled by the alarm when the car "superlocks." What do you mean by "an issue with the central locking?"
I assume the warning on the A/C is the Testbook symbol lit on the corner of the screen? THis indicates some fault with the CC-it is lit on mine and the car's a/c does not work--it could be something small like low (or no) freon gas in the system, or something like the air compressor not engaging (this is a known fault on the p38) It could also be a blend motor (these are a notorious failing point)
Good Luck!
