Finally getting around to repairing the low end knock in my '02 disco II. My mechanic father figures it's either main bearing or connecting rod bearing replacement. 1) is there a way to take the crank out without removing the engine (slim chance slick, right?) 2) when we're pulling the engine out how do you seperate the tranny from the engine? Where are/how do you access the top bolts?
Any information anyone has on removing an engine out of these would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

i'm no mechanic but I have pulled a few disco engines. I always take all but the top 3 tranny bolts off from the bottom and the top 3 I just use a 1/4 drive ratchet and twist them enough to finger loosen them. Tedious but it works.
