Hi guys,
my Extended Warrantee on my LR3 expires on Dec of 2014 or at 95K. I am at almost 80K. My truck is not a mall crawler, it goes off road and I cross country from NYC to LA twice a year.
The Rover has been super reliable. I purchased the Ford ESP when it was still covering LR's (they no longer do) and I got a super deal for 3 years or 36K at $2,500. I have used it a couple of times and its been awesome.
Wondering what other Extended Warrantees are out there that are as good and at about the same value $$. That you can get after 90K?
I love the truck and I want to keep it.

thanks,
Dave

I imagine by now, and as mentioned in another thread, there may be things that are not covered now. Mine ran out at 75k and I have spent a little over 5k in parts and labor. Granted I did extra stuff as a preventative. If you are doing to a dealer, 2500 is two visits.. Personally I have been lucky, with no major failures such as transmission.

Keep in mind, you should change your transmission & transfer case fluid at 60k, your differential fluids every 30k to extend the life.

Hi TLT,
my extended warrantee covers me till 95K miles, I have 78K now. I already found two warrantees I am looking at for the moment for added 2 more years. I did the gear oil and my diffs and transfer case in 2012. All has been good with them. The Trans, I have gone to a few LR shops and I was told to do the fluid in late May. I am still under warrantee till Dec.
I rather get the another extended warrantee at 90K for 3K then have something burst on me and pay 2K and later another 1K. The more miles the more possible for expensive repairs. I sleep better at night.

I'm not sure why they would tell you to do it in late may, but if you want to wait, you'll probably be ok. Just because you have a warranty does not mean you want to deal with it, between the deductible and inconvenience. It is nice to have. My out of pocket by planning, and maintaining is less than I would have spent on the insurance, that being said, one major failure and that could change. That being said, if you can afford to "self insure" you may save money.

This is one of those things are really up to the individual, there is no wrong answer.

Finding rover aftermarket insurance was tough for me. Expecting future cost on my 3, I decided to buy a warranty going to 140k. My 3 currently has 15.5k on an 08 so I expect age problems not mile problems. Carchex was able to warranty a LR product and was about 4800 bucks with a 100.00 deductible. I am pretty confident I will still come out on top.

What exactly does the warranty cover? Does it cover things like belts, seals, gaskets, control arms, bushings (sway bar, etc.), cv joints, electrical diagnosis costs, etc.?

I am curious b/c the certified factory warranty doesn't even cover most of that so personally I have still been on the fence about these extended warranties b/c it seems to me like you're basically betting on a major component failure such as a diff, transmission, engine. Please educate me as I don't know the specifics.

No belts oil tires filters or service. But here is what I did. My control arms are going bad but instead of fixing them out of pocket I payed my 100.00 deductible and got the 1100 control arms fixed with the updated part. Land Rover of Bham AL took the insurance and bam paid for a quarter of my warranty cost. It's brilliant!

good move with the control arms, if it covers all that stuff I think you will make out pretty well.
