flashing gear lights wont go into gear

I have a 2000 disco 2 the M and s lights were flashing and was sometimes sluggish off the line. Now they are flashing as well as the top left corner the gear light with yellow x through it flashes, and when I put it in gear nothing, then when I put it back in park the shifter kinda vibrates as though its trying to catch. I have no gears at all.

Good on trans. Fluid? To check, there is a side plug on the pan. With it out, you should be to the point of it almost flowing out when full
