you'd be hard pressed to find a better Rover mechanic... He was the tech advisory/team mechanic for the BEYOND THE LANE documentary, has restored cars for movies...has more than reasonable rates, it's a genuinely nice guy..and his shop is attached to the RoversNorth warehouse so, any party you want/need is on hand.

As a relatively new Discovery owner I was happy to find a great shop in my Northern Michigan home-town:

Dave's Garage
911 Hastings Street
Traverse City, MI 49686
(231) 933-0215

It was the second "import" shop that I tried in town, and while both seemed to know there way around the truck, Dave's Garage was where I found a couple of Land Rover enthusiasts. I'm enough of a backyard mechanic to be impressed with their work.

Rover Lab I can't of the new name I thinks it is British 4x4 Specialist.
Trevor Griffiths 2477 Old Hershey Road, Elizabethtown, PA (Just outside of Hershey)
717.367.0176 I took my truck to him a couple times he does great work.
Just wanted to x2 this, I had the good fortune of meeting Trevor and his team at Rover's on the Rocks. He is extremely knowledgeable and doesn't hesitate to offer a helping hand.

I knew i'd make my way into this thread...Searched google and found the same shop you listed for NJ. We'll see how it goes. There was also one in NYC i went to a few years ago when I had an RRC who seemed pretty legit. I'll try to find them and let you know.

Well over the last couple days 110 had developed a wicked miss under load. I replaced the fuel filter in a vain hope that it would be the cause. While the filter was completely filthy it was not the problem. Luckily though Napa had the filter in stock and on sale. Got two for 8 bucks.

Found a loose wire on the coil power feed and thought it was good to go then. I was of course wrong. We had loaded up to head home from the in-laws (6 hour drive) about 10 miles in she started missing and loosing power badly. So I called PT Schram and luck was with me he was home and I was already heading in that direction. So he kindly let me roll into his shop on a Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. We pulled in and a few minutes later he was outside under the hood checking spark etc. He quickly determined that the rotor was shot and was sloppy on the distributor allowing it to move around on its own, instead of with the shaft. A quick run into the shop produced a good used one he had laying around and in it went. The 110 was behaving much better but still was missing a bit. Out came the timing light and PT went to work cleaning up the timing marks on the crank. A few minutes later he determined the timing was way out of line. I knew it was but that is where it would start. Well PT's magic touch had the 110 timed properly and starting better than ever. While I was there he even took a minute to check his parts stock and he had a new clutch master cylinder in stock, mine is leaking. So not only did he fix my 110 he hooked me up with a good price on a new master cylinder for my next weekend project.

I want to give a big thank you to PT for taking time on his day off to fix my truck and get my family and I back on the road. Customer Service and dedication like that are hard to find these days. He showed his true Rover colors in spades today and I can't recommend him enough if your in the area and need some work done. It's service like that, that earns customers for life and reminds some of us why good Rover guru's are hard to find.

His info is listed in the Indiana section and his email is in my signature line. If your in the Northeast Indiana area give PT a call.

I must have missed this.

New York:
British Auto Works
1512 Stillwell Ave, Bronx, NY 10461

Carlos and his crew replaced my head gaskets when they failed in the dead of winter. They did a great job, and were finished 2 days ahead of schedule.

Recent customer of Green Oval in Portland, OR. The owner, Doug, provided great advice to me before I purchased my 2003 Disco.

Green Oval (Land Rover Service | Land Rover Repair | Portland, OR)
2046 NE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD
PORTLAND, OR 97212
Tel: 503 232 0049

I have taken my car to his shop to perform some work which I could not do in my own home garage. Excellent prices. He is willing to provide lots of guidance and even dissuade me to taking work to him which is not necessary.

I was a LR mechanic 30+ years ago and have worked in the automotive manufacturing industry for the past 21 yrs.

Great list and thank you. I just picked up a Discovery II; my first LR product and was looking for a solid independent shop near me. I'll be calling Overland Engineering this week for an appointment.

I go to a British only shop in youngsville, nc. I've taken my disco 1 there for everything and the guys there are great at what they do. I would recommend them to anyone with a British vehicle to go there.
