If you are smelling oil, the first place to look would be the v/c gaskets, if one is leaking they will drip onto the exhaust manifold.

I have the same problem sometimes. I think mine is due to a slow leak w/the power steering fluid, and my thought is that when the leak develops a drop the fluid drips and it gets hot and smells. Since it's only a slow leak, it doesn't always drip when the car is hot, so the smell is intermittent. That's my theory anyway, and I hope that's what it is! Whew, does that make sense? Good luck, Michele

It's probably gear oil leaking thru your hub seals. The heat of the rotors makes it more noticeable. Just check the back of the tires for any oil stains.
