Hi all,

I am new to the site and have a question about a noise from the gearbox (I think) of a friends 2.5TDi. At around 3300 revs, there is a buzzing/rattle coming from the gear lever area. It seems to be on-load and can be reduced by lifting the gear lever up. Any help would be appreciated.

my guess is that its just a rattle in the lever from the vibrations of the diesel.

I don't think so because it has steadily worsened over the last couple of months.

Have you pulled the console to see if anything is loose. Sounds like something in there is vibrating loose and getting worse the more you drive.

I removed the gaiter and tried to see if there was anyhting obvious, b ut I think I will have to remove the console and see. I have been told that there may be an adjustment needed but what is to adjust in the gearchange train?
