Hi there, just flew down to Dallas and drove back a Xmas pressy for my wife, a 1996 Rangie P38, 4.0. Not too bad condition for the year, 106k, really good body work, and ok leather. As I was heading north across Texas to Colorado, the engine would appear to misfire, almost like a hiccup, around 2.5k rpm on a long straight, and believe me there are a lot of long straights on US 287 and 87. I would last for a mile or so then clear. I stayed overnight in Amarillo, and on a cold morning following, it took 6 or 7 tries to get the engine go boom suck blow. I'm using premium fuel, but now I'm back in Colorado and it wont hold an idle, my wife, needless to say is a tad dissapointed that she can't get out in the snow this evening, any ideas??? I will be contacting Eric at Pikes Peak Rovers on Monday, just checkin to see that I cover all bases.

In another 'modern' vehicle, I had something similar happen one winter, turned out just to be the injectors needed cleaning. Probably a long shot. Depending on service history the O2 sensors seem a favourite (I've replaced 2 of mine between 100 and 125k).

Thanks Funrover, just got online at 7pm, now the darn thing won't start at all.... Flattened the battery trying to... Will try again tomorrow, if not, Eric is going to have a delivery on a flat bed Monday afternoion, hope he can do his magic as usual.... My wife, who named the P38 "TEX" has a provisional name "LEMON" right now, hope I can delomonize tex and get him on the road, it's kinda slippery up here in Green Mn't Falls, and I would hate to have her drive her J***p to work over the winter.
