Hey guys,

I have an issue on my DII that I need some help with.

When accelerating hard from a stop or very low speed (less than 5 mph) I can feel and hear a groaning that seems to be coming from the front drivers side. Feels strongest under my left foot. Doesn't do it when accelerating if I am moving more than 5 mph. I jacked up the front and checked for a bad wheel bearing. There is no play that I can feel. The CV boot is not torn or cracked at all. I'm thinking that maybe the CV joint is dry. Does that seem reasonable to you guys? Anything else I should check?

Thanks for the help!

Check the front drive shaft. It it has 3 grease fittings, lube it. If not replace it. Once it starts to make noise it is about to fail and when it goes, it can take the cats, the tbox, and the transmission with it.

Thanks for the input. The driveshaft was rebuilt last year and has been greased every oil change. The groaning seems to only be coming from the left front.

I also feel most of the vibrations through the truck on my feet more than anywhere else, check the CV boot, and pull the shaft (rebuild or buy one if not done already), check your catalytic converter for scraping from the driveshaft moving and hitting it caused by bad motor mounts.

I hadn't thought of the motor mounts. I will check those tomorrow. Thanks.

It appears that you are right Dane. There is definitely a rub mark around the driveshaft. Thanks for your help!

Your welcome!
Also, a tip on the motor mounts job, take off your front driveshaft I didn't and I think I may have finished off a diff/t-case bearing, and the jack point is on the oil pan itself.

Good luck.
