Hi there,

My Disco 2 has started flashing the handbrake warning light at me on an intermittent basis.

H/B operation is fine and light comes on with ignition and off when H/B put into off position, just blinks when stationary or under most road conditions.

Fluid level is fine in thre brake reservoir.

Any ideas, before I rip out the dash?

Thanks.

Check your wireing under the center console... In another car i had the positive wire was exposed and would periotically touch ground completeing the circuit

E-Brake Ligt

Your e-brake switch is either failing or out of adjustment. I don't there is any reason to worry about your flid level, that is another warning and there are no warning lights inside the e-brake drum.
Good luck,

Hand Brake Warning Light.

You need to adjust or replace your e-brake switch which should be located in the console.

Thanks, will give that a go too. When you say centre console do you mean around the auto gearbox lever?

yes...by the handbrake itself

MY 2000 disco 2 had the same problem, i traced it down to the brake fluid switch / float assymble it had fliud in the float, i pulled the cap off the bottom of the float drained the fliud. put 422 loctite instant glue to seal it off that was 6 months ago it hasn't come on going down the road since.
