I have a 1996 D1. It is ever increasingly difficult to lock the driver's side door with the key. It is to the point where I am afraid that I will bend or break the key. Aside from squirting some lubricant into the tumbler, does anyone have any siggestions?

I used powered graphite on my locks and they worked MUCH easier. Like you, I felt one of the keys might break !!!! Don't use WD-40,ect as they will gum up the works . Since mine didn't come with any remotes, the only way I have to lock it is with to key. If you have the remotes, you would probable never use the key. On mine it had been ('98 LSE) 5-6 yrs since the locks were operated !!!!

Our 96 Disco has the same problem with the driver's side door lock and the ignition as well. We squirted powdered graphite in the locks and it is working well now...

Powdered graphite but if you are really concerned slip along to a locksmith.
They can advise you best and you don't really want hassles before you even start the car. cheers, Lomo
