This is a very nice site you guys have here. I have lurked a bit. I have a 2000 discovery2 which now has 67000 miles. I have had it for 2 years now and love it.

Recently I have the christmas tree of lights known as the ABS, TC, and Down hill Decent lights glowing on my instrument cluster. I am not overy concerned after reading some posts. Has anyone fixed this with out going to a dealer? I am sure the computer could be reset by removing the negative power cable from the battery. I just don't believe in letting the dealerships screw up stuff I can fix.

My other question is have any of you experiened the valve covers leaking oil? It seemed to me that it is a little early for them to do that, but then again I am a rotary engine guy.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Hmm....not sure about the valve covers but as for the ABS, etc. lights....its probably more then pulling the negative off your batt....hehe, I tried that.

Mine was a less common problem where bad jolting (hehe....racing off road) threw a code that made my ECU think I was on air suspension, but it couldnt find it. It took bringing it to an independent shop and using Testbook to change the code [back to the one with coil springs] from my understanding.

A common thing is that one of your wheel sensors has failed or is dirty or something.....comes down to $90 and some time replacing the sensor after your find out what wheel the problem is on.

by the way...welcome!

The oil leak from the v/c gaskets is somewhat normal, tightening them tends to crack the gasket causing a bigger leak. if they are not dripping on the exhaust or drive way don't worry about it, that is just part of a Rovers thing.
As for the lights, there is no way to turn off the light except using a a proper scanner like Rovers Test Book. Everything else will just cause you frustration and some problems.
