It's not the maintenance that people are scared of. It's the electrical gremlins that have plagued Land Rovers for many, many years. There are a gazillion ECUs and fiber optic cables everywhere that can bring the car to a halt after tripping various fault codes. The newer ones ARE better than the older ones, but they are absolutely not fail proof. Some Land Rovers are excellent and give the owners zero problems, others spend nearly as much time at the dealership as they do in the owner's possession.

This all isn't meant to scare you, but no one on the web or in person can tell you if you got a good one. Only time will tell. That's because electrical problems are either there or they're not. They are not like mechanical issues which usually give you notice somethings not right, usually by a noise, excess play in the component, grinding, shaking, overheating, etc.
