Help! Freelander Key Conundrum

Hi....this forum has come through for me before, so I'll try again now...I have a 2002 Freelander and I have completely lost my keys to them....the dealer is quoting me a price of over $1000 to replace them...that just seems astonishing...are they ANY other options out there to get a key replaced for less or am I just going to have to eat this one??
