I've been fighting a problem with a intermittant and now not working at all tachometer. I checked the alternator and it is cranking out good voltage. And my idle is very high like 2200 rpm and I think it's increasing, the last couple of days I think I'm idling 2500. Does the fact that the tach is not working have any thing to do with this or am I looking at two seperate problems?

Not knowing what year your truck is makes it hard to be sure, but I think the 2 problems are tied together.

It could just be a sensor malfunction. Check to see if the Tach is hooked up in the engine bay. Check to make sure things are not unpluged. Have you unpluged any sensors before, did you change something out? I replaced a few parts, this caused a high-idle problem, but I still had the tach. I had to get the adaptive memory cleared. If you have an independant Rover Shop near by, I would have them hook up the "Rover Com" to it. Just a suggestion. This Forum is good, but not very old. There are more posts and more information on lrx.com. There is also a lot of BS. Sift through it, take it in. And do more research.
