hot alternator

This past weekend I had a starting problem that I just sorted out. After getting her started and back home I noticed the alternator was very hot. How hot is normal??? :dunno: I could only put my hand on for a second before it was too much. Other components like the AC compressor were fine.

If it runs to hot you will hear the bearings starting to complian.
They will first make a grinding niose then up to a high pitched whine. If this happens you need to chek it out, then something is wrong.
