I bought a Bull Bar off of a friend and it just has bare wire leads.
Is it possible, since I have a Fog light switch on my dash whose LED actually comes on when pressed, that there are female connectors somewhere just waiting for me to plug in driving lights after I locate the male connector ends and splice them on???
Could it be that simple?
Could someone possibly be selling these connectors? Link?
Any other tips for connecting them? Where and How?

Thanks in advance!:grin

What year is your truck.?
Regardless ther should be a 2 wire grey (I recall) at each front lower corner.
They would originally plug into the factory fog lights in the stock bumper. If you have the old fog lights, you could nip the connectors off of them and cut, solder them on to your new bumper mount lights

Its an 01 D2, and I now am wondering if the Bull bar was for a D1....it lines up for distance between the front frame chassis but I would definitely have to mod the lower part of the stock bumper with cutouts or something to allow the bull bar connector holes to go up far enough up underneath to reach the bolt holes on the chassis frame.
Is this common?
Can I cut material out without too much issues?
Do I cut my losses and sell it as a D1 Bull Bar with Hella lights rather than trying to make it fit?
Maybe I will post pics...

Thanks for any input!

Bull Bar and fogs installed and connected to existing factory wiring.....but no light! Hooked straight to Batt they work great, nice and bright!
So....what should I look for if everything seems to be there but my model SD did not come with fogs from factory?
I did notice there is no relay under the hood, so I swapped in a good working relay...no good. toggled the dash switch (whose LED does come on) while checking my voltmeter in all 4 slots where the relay plugs in....no good, no change. as if hitting the dash switch doesn't reach the relay???
Could it be the LED for the switch is a dummy and just because it comes on doesn't mean it is passing voltage down to the relay and then onto the fogs?
I really dont want to run new wiring, with relay and switch if I don't have to but....
Also, someone mentioned 55w Hella lamps should be fine to run on factory harness??
If mine are more than that, I'd still expect them to do something yes?? try to come on or blow a fuse or something yes?
Oh yes, also checked fuses and 15a fuses are there and good.
Any help appreciated!

Anyone???

I stumbled on an auxillary fog light control module today? Could that be what's missing?
Would that prevent voltage from relay to lamps?
I forgot to mention when I tested the slots in the fuse box under the hood where the fog light relay goes, there was voltage in there. just would not change or pass to Hellas when hitting the dash switch on upper left corner of instr panel. This is the right switch right?
Check the link and see if it is something I need to check if I have and get if I don't....Thanks in advance!

Hi. The LED is not a dummy...here is the pin out for the switch...just installed 3 of these a couple of weeks ago.
There's no telling what might have happened to the wiring to your lights, so you might want to try testing the circuit at the switch. Just pull the switch out carefully of the dash and use a test light on power circuits and test continuity on the ground circuit.

Then you can go from there. Post back if your still having issues...

Tex

Hi, from where did you wire up your lamps? If you spliced into the vehicle's circuit from the fusebox the relay will not work untill the fog lamps operation is enabled in the BCU settings if the vehicle was not factory fitted with front fogs, a dedicated diagnostic tool is needed for that

Verify the tool's function list, it must have advanced BCU - settings , there are 3 options for front fog lamps, a piece from the workshop manual, there are 3 pages of them, your's is probably on "none" from factory:

However, if you tell me how did you wire up your lamps i might tell you a trick to make them work without using a diag tool

thanks brother I will see how I do to do that programming. Those scanners are very expensive. Anybody in Orlando that can help me? or it will be what happened by the dealer!

I have some ipfs for off road use, I put them in the bull bar and plugged them into the original wiring and got an oem front fog light switch. but reading in another forum a user put them as he put them. I use a relay 4 I ran a wire to inside the vehicle and I use a cruise control switch.
how would be the trick friend? Let's see if I can put them to turn on and use as it should. 😎

To avoid BCU programming and make the front fog lamps work with the vehicle's original circuit you have to get to te BCU and make some wiring mods there but then they will work together with the rear fogs not individually as after a proper programming, if you want to do that i'll tell you how but you have to know how to work with the diagrams and connector views from the electrical library

thanks, that's not a bad idea. I wouldn't mind if they work together with the rear ones, where is the BCU located? In another forum I found something to work using the original wiring, adding an additional relay and cruise control switch.

The BCU is behind the glovebox which must be removed to gain access, you have to identify connectors C0662 - pin 8(UP wire) and C0660 - 7(KB wire) and make a bridge betwen them with a piece of wire, another bridge across C0663 - 4(UY) and C0661 - 1(SK) that's all then the fogs will work on the original setup just that the rears will come on together with fronts. The wire colour codes and connector pinouts are in the electrical library - connector views from RAVE, you have to be focused to not bridge other wires cos it can be trouble so if you are nor 100% confident in your electrical skills better not play there
