Hello,
I am looking at some re-manufactured HRC 2479 heads that are the older flavor without the SAI ports for my D2 (I want it to not have that BS). Is there anything preventing the older 2479's from fitting? I am guessing no but I don't want to buy them only to have issues installing them. they look the same to me... sorry if this potential "dead horse" has been beaten to death.

Well I guess I will be the one to let this Forum know if they work or not... Just ordered a set of non SAI off Ebay for $250! not bad IMO... they come in sometime next week and then I will let you all know if they work or not.

they will fit just fine. You will have issues though with the sai system setting a code.

The SAI hasn't been hooked up for 6+ years and I haven't gotten any codes or check engine lights... that's why I want to toss it... that and its just extra crap in the engine bay... I figure older ones didn't need it why does mine? maybe my cpu is from an older rover as well? i dunno... either way, heads will arrive on/around thanksgiving and after that I just need the cooling pipe from the heatercore to the intake (the flange stayed connected to the intake when the pipe didn't... GRRRRR)

I have the heater feedpipe if you need one.

You really didn't need the replacement heads though. The SAI adapters are easily tapped for pipe plugs.

Yes and no... I'm at fault and I blame ignorance!... I left the heads in a diluted solution of purple power overnight not knowing it would corrode... Then I sent the heads to be machined and the guy at the shop said the hot tank would remove the corrosion but it didn't... so I spent a lot of time with a toothbrush trying to get it all out of everywhere... and I had to cut one of the SAI fittings off to get the head off because I stripped the Allen hole pretty good (tried heat, pb, everything but couldn't get the damn thing out)... and then I tried to drill it out myself (instead of paying $110 for the shop to do it)... and I ended up screwing it up pretty good... a shop could probably fix it all for me but it would be $100+)... Shop also said I needed a valve job pretty badly (I agreed with them but didn't wanna dump another $150)... All said in done my heads would have cost me $500 to be reconditioned... so I opted to buy ones off a running rover that I can bolt on without the holes in it, and sell my shitshowed heads to recoup some of the money. the heads will be cheap so someone can spend a little more on them to get them back to good working order (valve job and fixing that SAI port).
This is the head gasket job I've done ever in my life so I expected mistakes to be made.

how much for the pipe shipped to 05478? just to clarify its the one that goes from the intake manifold and runs to the heatercore. 20KB picture size restriction... holy crap... See insanely small picture I've attached.
