Recently puchased a 95 Disco, with 76K miles, runs well. Need advise on what to do about SRS idiot light that stays on and the light for the ABS system, forgot what it was called. Not sure I can get an inspection sticker with these lights on. Car is used on an island so I don't travel far or fast, don't need either function but do need an inspection sticker.
What is the story about problems changing oil in the 3.9 V8? Something about losing pump prime?

Thirsty for knowledge.

As far as i know the dealer is the only one who can reset SRS with the
testbook program, i would have that checked cause if you have an accident
god forbid you want those air bags to deploy. The abs light can be on for many reasons. My abs light has been on for years now i just ignore it , my
brakes work fine that is more important for me.

Don't know how strict the inspection is where you are but because you have
a 95 and no OBDII i am guessing that it will be OK with the light on, Don't
tell them .

No problem changing the earl in the kahh :D

Spin off oil filter, fill new filter with oil replace ,now open drain plug let oil
drain ,open fill cap to help drain flow, replace drain plug, fill with oil and you
should be fine.

good luck joe

The SRS light comes on when the system is failing and should be checked with a Test Book as soon as possible. The normal service/inspection is every 7 years as the bags may need replacement.
The ABS light is telling you there is a problem which also can only be checked with a test book.

I hedge a fair bet the SRS lite is a low voltage code from a jump start or a bad battery.

but you need to have the lite turned off from testbook as they said.

ABS codes are two systems mechanical and electrical. if any play exists in the bearings you will get a airgap code for that wheel. IF it is an electrical problem it will be an intermitten or regular open circuit code.

First thing as techs we get rid of the codes test drive the vehicle over bumps and stuff and see what comes on. YOu can clean the sensors and put new grease on them and reseat them and if the bearings arent loose that might turn off the lite after a bit. If its a completely open circuit only a new sensor will do.

Although an intermitten sensor can sometimes be fixed by readjusting the wire on the inner fender well so the coupling has a little slack.
