Just wanted to start a thread to collect the mileage reports from folks with a Jag 4.4 liter V8-powered HSE.

My 2006 with 100k miles got 20.3 mpg consistently on the road.

My 2008 with 50k miles gets 21.3 mpg consistently on the road.

Exact same set of wheels and tires on both vehicles. Little to no tire wear with factory inflation settings.

Anyone else?

MY2013 with 1,000 miles on it with Jag 5.0L v8 comes in at an abysmal 15 mpg average (town & highway). Stock tires with 20" wheels.

Granted, I'm still enjoying playing with all of that power... :D

Oh, my 1995 County Classic gets about the same, so I'm used to frequent gas stops.

My wife's 08 HSE has averaged about 20 mpg over the last 5k miles. Probably about 50/50 highway/around town. Stock tire size. My LR3 same year same engine with General Grabber AT2 tires is getting about 17.5 to 18 over same timeframe with similar driving so we have been very pleased with the Sport.

This was my experience with my 2008 LR3 as well. It's not lighter, so it must be the aerodynamics?

I would think that maybe it's the break-in mileage, but generally these things are already run-in.

@Rhinob...I hope you are right and that the mileage improves.

In the meantime, I'm always looking at the instant fuel mileage number on the info screen and adjusting my heavy foot as needed.

Drive it dynamically. That will break things in better. Don't focus on mileage quite yet. Again, I'm not exactly sure whether they run these engines in completely before they install them. I'm hoping your mileage increases as well.

Not sure if anyone is still following this but my 06 HSE over the 2000 miles I've owned it averages 12.6. Mind you my commute is 7 miles, stop and go and this was with the AC on probably 95% of the time (Arizona in the summer and a black vehicle). I'm hoping over the next couple months between more highway driving and no AC usage it will get closer to 20. I don't drive it like a maniac, its not like me old XKR, LOL, which is also why I didn't buy a supercharged version.

I hear ya. You need a 14 mile highway commute. You'll burn about the same amount of fuel!
