Anyone have a line on where to get these at the cheapest price??? eBay doesn't have any, unless you go to the UK site and the bloke with them will not ship outside the UK??????????

I tell you for the money I just bought a couple of the hooks you find on the Surburban and such.

I too wanted JATE rings but thought the $50(US) each was a bit pricey. I put the hooks on for $2.38 in bolts (grade 8) and 30$ worth of hooks from a salvage yard.

I have a class 3 hitch in the back so I don't need JATE rings back there.

Ignore my busted links.

go old school

what about making them?
not very difficult..
just take a GI(galvanised iron)metal strip
which is 1 inch wide and about 1/4 th inch thick.
bend it into a U and drill holes on both the ends.
then use a 4 inch long stainless steel bolt with lock nuts.
wont this do?

Dude, order the JATE rings. Trying to rig up something like that puts everyone in danger...

And, 1stRover. Please throw those things in the trash
well i'de use them. And trust them.
but i came up with something better.
and here it is. and it is rated at 14000 lbs...

goes on to the rrc without drilling any holes and stays there securely.
and sure is strong enough to tow the rrc out of trouble...

Dude, you are nuts. An exhaust clamp? Come on man, you are not right!!! Rated @ 14,000lbs? of what? Are you telling me you can hoist TWO Land Rover Discoverys up via a crane with that POS? Would you stand under them?

Try a simple test here....Hook up your strap to that POS and tie it off to a tree. Start pulling. I bet you do not get to 1500rpm's before your exhaust clamp fails..

It's a u-bolt with a piece of tin foil. A grade 2 u-bolt at that. And what are you going to hook to that POS? There is not even enough room to get a winch hook in there. And, if your stuck in the mud, how the hell are you going to get in there to attach your strap or winch?

You have got to be just joking.....No one in there right mind would EVER try this. For the amount of money you have spent on this junk, you could have purchased a nice receiver shackel mount by now.

 What a great thread - amazing what some folks dream of! Hey 1st Rover - DO NOT stand in front of your RR when you try to use those - they will bust off and come screaming through the air at superman speed and leave a bigger hole than you need in the cranium!

Thanks for the try anyway but I think I will fork out the $45 and be done.

CHEERS to HANK and 1stR!!! :drink1:
