Hi folks. New to this board. I just picked up a new to me 2000 Range rover 4.6 last weekend. (previously have had an RRC and a Disco II). Anyway today the rover is showing me something new. I tried a search but found nothing. when i shut off the truck and open the drivers door, I get a chime and a message indicator telling me the key is still in the ignition. only it isnt, its in my hand at that time.

any ideas.

I know the fob needs a new battery. will that fix it or should I be looking for something else? thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a 97 and it does the same thing...if I wiggle the key a little as I am removing it from the ignition I can hear the little "click" that usually accompanies the key removal...I just assume it's one of those little rover gremlins...

try using your thumb and pressing in on the center of the ignition. Mine was doing the same thing and this helped

Thanks guys. I'll try the wiggle and or thumb press if it comes back. Stopped doing this as suddenly as it started.
